Cast from a 1920's vintage long lost clip on earring - this intricate bronze art deco inspired pendant serves as a unique and delicate shield on a corresponding slightly adjustable length chain.
ARTEMIS, one of the great divinities of the Greeks. Her name is derived from artemês - meaning: uninjured, healthy, vigorous; according to which she would be the goddess who is herself inviolate and vigorous, and also grants strength and health to others. Artemis was the great Olympian goddess of hunting, wilderness and wild animals. She was also a goddess of childbirth, fertility, and the protectress of strong women. She was often depicted with the crescent of the moon above her forehead and was sometimes identified as a goddess of the moon.
